http://www.actionstudio.org/public/page_view_all.cfm?option=begin&pageid=6193

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently issued a final mercury rule that will allow the coal-fired utility industry to continue to add tons of mercury to our air and waterways for decades to come...

MERCURY

Test Your Mercury Levels

http://www.waterkeeper.org/mainarticledetails.aspx?articleid=176

Black Warrior Riverkeeper and Waterkeeper Alliance have teamed up with Greenpeace and the University of North Carolina to offer you the opportunity to test your mercury levels.

Why would I want to know my mercury level?

Mercury is highly toxic heavy metal that contaminates a third of our nation’s lakes, a quarter of our rivers, and many of the fish that we eat. Mercury ends up in the tissues of commonly eaten fish like tuna and bass and threatens the health of millions of people across the United States. Humans, at the top of the food chain, can consume enough mercury to put them at risk of neurological, circulatory and immune system disorders. EPA and the Centers for Disease Control estimate that 630,000 children are born every year with unsafe levels of mercury in their blood.

ROADLESS NATIONAL FORESTS

Help stop federal plans favoring logging and mining in the last pristine areas of our National Forests.

America's last roadless National Forests belong to each and every American.  All of our remaining roadless areas should be protected, completely and permanently, through reinstatement of the Roadless Area Conservation Rule of 2001.  On May 5, the Bush administration repealed the widely supported Roadless Area Conservation Rule, opening nearly sixty-million acres of America's last wild National Forests to road construction, logging, mining, oil and gas exploration, and other forms of harmful development.

TAKE ACTION >> By clicking the link below you can sign the Citizen's Petition and help protect our last wild forests:

http://www.net.org/petition.php?partner=BWR

A petition with all of the signatures will be presented to President Bush and the Department of Agriculture. A copy of the petition will also be delivered to your Governor.
